Ingredients

The dough

  • ½ cup warm water
  • ¼ ounce active dry yeast or instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • cup melted butter or coconut oil
  • ½ cup milk, at room temperature
  • cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • cups all-purpose flour

The filling

  • ½ cup dark brown sugar
  • tablespoons cinnamon

The glaze

  • cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Grease a baking dish.
  2. Proof the yeast with warm water and sugar for 5 minutes until foamy.
  3. Mix melted butter, milk, sugar, and salt in a bowl, then stir in the yeast mixture.
  4. Combine flour with the wet ingredients and knead until smooth.
  5. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  6. Prepare the filling by mixing brown sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar.
  8. Roll the dough tightly and slice into 12 rolls.
  9. Place the rolls in the baking dish, cover, and let rise for another hour.
  10. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  11. Bake the rolls for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Cool for 10 minutes, then drizzle with glaze.
