Instructions
- Proof the yeast by mixing warm water, yeast, and a little sugar, then let it rest until bubbly.
- Mix in buttermilk, eggs, sugar, salt, vanilla, and melted butter, then combine well.
- Gradually add flour, kneading until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1½ hours.
- Prepare a baking sheet by buttering it and lining it with parchment paper.
- Roll the dough out into a large rectangle, then spread with butter and sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal portions.
- Arrange the rolls on the baking sheet and let them rise again until doubled, about 1½ hours.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F during the last 20 minutes of rising.
- Bake the rolls until cooked through, about 18-22 minutes.
- While baking, prepare the cream cheese icing by mixing butter, cream cheese, vanilla, and powdered sugar until fluffy.
- Spread the icing over the warm rolls before serving.
