Ingredients

The dough

  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • teaspoons salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 packets active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup lukewarm water
  • 4½ to 5 cups all-purpose flour

The filling

  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ½ cup heavy cream

The icing

  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons buttermilk
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Scald the milk in a saucepan and cool it to 110-115°F.
  2. Combine melted butter, sugar, and salt in a bowl, then pour the cooled milk over it and whisk in the eggs.
  3. Bloom the yeast in warm water for 5 minutes.
  4. In a mixer, combine flour, yeast mixture, and scalded milk mixture; knead until smooth.
  5. Shape the dough into a ball, brush with melted butter, and let it rise until doubled in size.
  6. Mix the filling ingredients together in a bowl.
  7. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle the filling evenly.
  8. Roll the dough tightly and cut it into 12 pieces.
  9. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise until doubled.
  10. Pour heavy cream over the rolls after the second rise.
  11. Make the icing by combining cream cheese, buttermilk, and powdered sugar until smooth.
  12. Preheat the oven and bake the rolls until golden brown.
  13. Drizzle the icing over the rolls immediately after baking.
