Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons Platinum Yeast or instant yeast
  • 1 large egg

Filling

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Cream Cheese Icing

  • 4 ounces full-fat cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. 1. Whisk together flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
  2. 2. Heat milk and butter until warm, then whisk in yeast until dissolved.
  3. 3. Combine the milk mixture with dry ingredients, add the egg, and mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. 4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 3-5 minutes until smooth, then let it rest for 10 minutes.
  5. 5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread softened butter, and sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar.
  6. 6. Roll the dough into a log and cut into 10-12 rolls, placing them in a greased pan.
  7. 7. Cover and let the rolls rise in a warm place for 60-90 minutes until doubled in size.
  8. 8. Preheat the oven and bake the rolls until lightly browned.
  9. 9. While baking, prepare the icing by mixing cream cheese, butter, confectioners’ sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  10. 10. Spread icing over warm rolls and serve.
