Ingredients

  • 1 cup green, black, or brown lentils
  • cups water
  • ¼ to ½ teaspoon salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the lentils and water in the Instant Pot.
  2. Optionally add salt, but keep in mind it may make lentils firmer.
  3. Secure the lid and set the steam release valve to sealing.
  4. Press the Manual or Pressure Cook button to cook at high pressure for 9 minutes.
  5. After cooking, immediately move the steam release valve to venting to release pressure.
  6. Once the pressure is released, check the lentils for tenderness.
  7. If needed, add more water and pressure cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  8. Serve warm or store in an airtight container in the fridge.
