- Rinse the lentils in a fine mesh sieve and remove any bad lentils or debris.
- For stovetop, combine rinsed lentils with enough water to cover them, bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat, and simmer for 15-25 minutes depending on the type of lentils.
- For Instant Pot, add lentils and 2 cups of water, lock the lid, set vent to closed, and cook on high pressure for 2-15 minutes based on lentil type, then allow natural release.
- For slow cooker, place rinsed lentils in the slow cooker, cover with 4 cups of water, and cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-8 hours.
- Drain any excess water and let the lentils cool before serving.
