Ingredients

  • 3 cups water
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1. Spread dry lentils on a baking sheet and discard any stones or deformed lentils.
  2. 2. Rinse the lentils under cold water in a colander to remove dust and debris.
  3. 3. Combine lentils and water in a saucepan, bring to a boil, then cover and simmer until tender, about 15 to 20 minutes.
  4. 4. Drain the lentils well.
