Instructions
- Line an 8-inch by 8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Melt dark chocolate using a double-boiler or microwave until completely melted, then pour into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Melt white chocolate in a similar manner and melt the shortening separately, then combine them with peppermint extract.
- Fold in half of the crushed candy canes into the white chocolate mixture.
- Spread the white chocolate mixture over the dark chocolate layer and sprinkle with remaining candy cane pieces.
- Allow the peppermint bark to harden completely at room temperature before breaking into pieces.
