Ingredients

The cauliflower steaks

  • 2 heads cauliflower
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • to coat olive oil olive oil

Optional dipping sauce

  • to serve romesco sauce or favorite dipping sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F.
  2. Trim away leaves and most of the stems from the cauliflower heads, leaving enough stem to hold the steaks together.
  3. Slice the cauliflower heads into ½-inch thick steaks.
  4. Arrange the cauliflower steaks on a baking sheet in a single, even layer.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  6. Brush olive oil on the cauliflower steaks and sprinkle half of the spice blend over them.
  7. Flip the steaks and repeat the oil brushing and seasoning.
  8. Bake in the oven for about 20 to 25 minutes, flipping the steaks after the first 10 minutes.
  9. Remove from the oven and serve hot.
