Air Fryer BBQ Chicken Breast

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds boneless skinless chicken breast
  • 1 ½ teaspoons sea salt or kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce, divided

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken dry and pound it to an even thickness.
  2. Combine the salt, garlic powder, paprika, pepper, and cayenne in a small bowl.
  3. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the chicken and optionally refrigerate overnight.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400° F.
  5. Brush both sides of the chicken with avocado oil.
  6. Place the chicken in the air fryer basket and cook for 7 minutes.
  7. Flip the chicken and cook for another 7 to 8 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 155° F.
  8. Brush the chicken with about ½ of the BBQ sauce.
  9. Return the chicken to the air fryer and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until it reaches 160° F.
  10. Allow the chicken to rest for 5 minutes before serving with the remaining BBQ sauce.
