Pear Goat Cheese and Italian Sausage Pizza

Ingredients

The pizza base

  • 16 oz pizza dough
  • 1 head garlic
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 pinches salt

The toppings

  • barlett pears sliced thin
  • 6 oz low-moisture mozzarella cheese
  • 3 oz goat cheese
  • 5 oz Italian sausage
  • ¼ cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1 Tbsp yellow corn meal

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. Prepare the garlic by removing loose outer layers and cutting the top off to expose the cloves, then drizzle with olive oil and wrap in foil.
  3. Bake the wrapped garlic for about 28-30 minutes until nearly roasted, then set aside to cool.
  4. Increase the oven temperature to 450°F and place a pizza stone in the center.
  5. On a dusted sheet of parchment paper, shape the pizza dough into a 12½-inch circle.
  6. Brush the top of the dough with olive oil and sprinkle with pepper and salt.
  7. Layer the sliced pears, mozzarella, goat cheese, cooked sausage, and roasted garlic over the dough.
  8. Transfer the pizza to the hot pizza stone and bake for 11-14 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted.
  9. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with basil ribbons before slicing and serving warm.
