Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped white onion
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 1 pound dried black eyed peas, rinsed
  • 1 pound smoked turkey leg
  • 1 teaspoon Creole seasoning
  • 1 bay leaf

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to the slow-cooker.
  2. Place the lid on and cook for 3-4 hours on High or 7-8 hours on Low.
  3. Remove the lid and take out the smoked turkey and bay leaf.
  4. Shred the meat from the smoked turkey and return it to the pot if desired.
  5. Serve the dish.
