The frosting

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In a mixer, beat sugar and butter until fluffy, then add eggs one at a time, mixing well.
- Mix in red food coloring, vinegar, vanilla extract, and peppermint extract.
- Gradually add the flour mixture and mix until combined.
- Roll dough into 1 ½-inch balls and place on baking sheets, spaced 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are golden brown, then cool on racks.
- For the frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until creamy, then add powdered sugar and mix until smooth.
- Frost cooled cookies and sprinkle with crushed peppermint.
