Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a baking sheet by buttering and dusting it with cocoa powder.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
- Melt the butter in a separate bowl, then stir in the hot water and cocoa powder.
- Combine the flour mixture with the butter mixture, then add the eggs, vanilla, and buttermilk, mixing well.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- For the icing, melt the butter with cocoa powder, salt, and milk in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Remove from heat, whisk in vanilla and powdered sugar, adjusting consistency if needed.
- Pour the icing over the warm cake and spread evenly, adding sprinkles if desired.
- Let the icing set at room temperature before serving, adding whipped cream and strawberries just before serving.
