Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350º F and prepare three 9" round baking pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, hot coffee, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
- Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
- Once baked, cool the cakes in the pans for 15 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- For the frosting, beat softened butter and cream cheese until fluffy, then mix in cocoa powder and vanilla.
- Gradually add confectioner's sugar while mixing, then adjust consistency with milk.
- Assemble the cake by layering with frosting between each layer and frosting the outside.
- Refrigerate the cake for at least one hour before serving.
