Ingredients

The mixture

  • 1 medium apple
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons dried parsley
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons ground sage
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 pound uncooked 98% lean ground chicken breast

For cooking

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Peel and shred the apple, then squeeze out excess moisture.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the egg, garlic, parsley, sage, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, and mix well.
  3. Add the shredded apple to the mixture and stir to combine.
  4. Incorporate the ground chicken into the mixture using hands or a fork until well mixed.
  5. Cover and refrigerate the mixture for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  6. Divide the mixture into eight balls and flatten them into patties about ½ inch thick.
  7. Heat olive oil in a griddle pan over medium heat.
  8. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes until fully cooked.
