Ingredients

The crust

  • 1 recipe Homemade Pie Crust

The filling

  • cups shelled pecans
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup dark corn syrup
  • ½ cup packed dark brown sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • to taste none coarse sea salt or flaky sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pie crust according to your recipe through step 5.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and roll out the chilled pie dough to a 12-inch circle.
  3. Place the dough into a 9-inch pie dish and tuck in the edges.
  4. Spread the pecans evenly inside the pie crust and sprinkle the chocolate chips on top.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, corn syrup, brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla, salt, and cinnamon until combined.
  6. Pour the filling over the pecans and chocolate chips.
  7. Bake for 40-50 minutes until the top is lightly browned, covering with a pie crust shield if necessary.
  8. Let the pie cool completely, then sprinkle with sea salt and serve.
