Ingredients

The sauce

  • cups chicken broth or stock
  • cup light or dark brown sugar
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup oyster sauce
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon finely minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

The main ingredients

  • 3-4 cups cooked, shredded or cubed chicken
  • 6-8 cups broccoli florets, chopped

For serving

  • Hot, cooked rice for serving
  • Toasted sesame seeds for garnish
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Steam the broccoli in a microwave-safe bowl with water for 3-4 minutes until crisp-tender, then drain.
  2. In a deep skillet, whisk together the broth, brown sugar, soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil.
