Spicy Ricotta Baked Meatballs

Ingredients

  • 5 ounces ground pork or ground turkey
  • 5 ounces spicy Italian sausage
  • 1 teaspoon tomato paste
  • ½ teaspoon dehydrated minced garlic or 1 teaspoon fresh minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon dehydrated minced onion
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons freshly grated parmesan or grana padano cheese
  • ¼ cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1 egg egg
  • ¼ teaspoon molasses
  • cup whole milk ricotta

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground pork (or turkey), spicy sausage, and tomato paste.
  3. Sprinkle the garlic, onion, oregano, salt, pepper, parmesan, and panko over the meat mixture.
  4. Whisk the egg in a separate bowl and add it to the meat mixture along with the molasses and ricotta.
  5. Gently mix all ingredients with your hands until well combined.
  6. Form the mixture into one-ounce meatballs and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake the meatballs for 20 minutes until fully cooked.
  8. Serve the meatballs with your favorite marinara sauce over pasta or risotto.
