Homemade Lemonade

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 10 lemons for 2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 8 cups water
  • to taste extra lemon slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Slice two of the lemons into thin slices and remove seeds.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the sugar and lemon slices together until the sugar is wet.
  3. Juice the remaining lemons to obtain 2 cups of lemon juice.
  4. Add the water and lemon juice to the bowl and stir until the sugar dissolves.
  5. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher, pressing on the lemon slices to extract juice.
  6. Chill the lemonade until ready to serve or serve immediately with ice and garnish with lemon slices.
