freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4-5 large lemons)

Instructions
- Roll the lemons on a cutting board while pressing down to get the most juice.
- Cut the lemons in half and juice them using a juicer or by hand.
- Add the lemon juice to a measuring cup.
- Pour the lemon juice into a pitcher, followed by the icy water and simple syrup to taste.
- If using granulated sugar, mix it with the lemon juice before adding the water.
- Stir the mixture well to combine all ingredients.
- Slice the remaining lemons and add them to the pitcher.
- Refrigerate until ready to serve.
