Ingredients

The chicken

  • 12 pieces chicken drumsticks

The marinade

  • ½ Navel orange juice and zest
  • ¼ cup date paste
  • 2 tbsp coconut aminos
  • 2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp unseasoned rice vinegar
  • ½ tsp Himalayan salt
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • ½ tsp chili pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. 1. Pat the drumsticks dry and place them in a non-reactive container, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  2. 2. In a bowl, combine the marinade ingredients and whisk until mixed.
  3. 3. Pour the marinade over the drumsticks and ensure they are fully coated.
  4. 4. Cover and refrigerate to marinate for about 6 hours or overnight.
  5. 5. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  6. 6. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and transfer the drumsticks onto it, ensuring space between them.
  7. 7. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, turning once or twice, until cooked through and crispy.
  8. 8. Garnish with additional sesame seeds if desired and serve immediately.
