Gingerbread Christmas Tree Cookies

Instructions
- 1. Beat the butter, brown sugar, and applesauce in a large bowl until smooth, then mix in the egg and molasses.
- 2. In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and spices, then add to the wet mixture and stir well.
- 3. Form the dough into a large ball, cover with plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- 4. Preheat the oven to 350°F and dust your working surface with flour.
- 5. Roll out the dough to ⅛-inch thickness and cut into triangles to form tree shapes.
- 6. Place cookies on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
- 7. For the icing, mix egg whites with lemon juice, then add powdered sugar and food coloring until desired color is achieved.
- 8. Decorate the cooled cookies with icing and sprinkles.
