Grilled Sweet And Spicy Pickles

Instructions
- Combine the pickling liquid ingredients in a saucepan and heat until the sugar dissolves, then remove from heat and cover.
- Wash the cucumbers and trim the ends, then quarter them lengthwise. Cut the onion into ½ inch wide strips.
- Prepare a charcoal fire for direct grilling and grill the cucumbers for 2 minutes on each triangular side, and the onion strips for 2 minutes on each side.
- Remove from the grill and place the cucumbers and onions into sterilized pint-sized mason jars. Add dill, garlic, and crushed red pepper to each jar, then pour in the pickling liquid and seal the jars.
