Bold & Spicy Homemade Dill Pickles

Ingredients

The cucumbers and spices

  • 1 ½ pounds cucumbers
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 2 teaspoons Dill seeds
  • ½ teaspoon Red pepper flakes

The brine

  • 1 cup cider vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 ½ tablespoon Pickling salt
  • 2 drops Dill Essential Oil

Special equipment

  • Canning Jars

Instructions

  1. Prepare the jars.
  2. Cut cucumbers into spears and remove the blossom end.
  3. Add cucumber spears to jars, placing 2 smashed garlic cloves, 1 teaspoon Dill seed, and ¼ teaspoon Red pepper flakes in each jar.
  4. Pack the cucumbers in the jars, leaving at least ½ inch of space at the top.
  5. Boil the pickling brine and pour it over the cucumbers.
  6. Add 2 drops of dill essential oil to each jar.
  7. Remove air bubbles by tapping the jars against the counter and tighten the lids.
  8. Keep in the refrigerator if not processing, and wait at least 48 hours before opening.
  9. If storing longer, process in a water bath for 5 minutes.
