Ingredients

The mushrooms

  • 16 oz Bella mushrooms, sliced
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil or salted butter
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

The burgers

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter or olive oil
  • 1 small white onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 pieces sliced Swiss cheese
  • 4 pieces soft sesame seed burger buns

Instructions

  1. Prepare the mushrooms by rinsing and drying them, then sauté in olive oil with salt for 10-15 minutes until glossy.
  2. Remove the mushrooms from the pan once cooked, optionally increasing the heat for crispiness.
  3. Preheat the grill to 450ºF and prepare a piece of tin foil.
  4. In a bowl, combine ground beef with black pepper and salt, then form into 4 loose balls.
  5. Melt butter on the grill and place beef balls on it, adding sliced onions on top.
  6. Cook the beef balls for 2-3 minutes, then flatten into patties.
  7. Top each patty with mushrooms and a slice of Swiss cheese, grilling for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  8. Serve the burgers on buns with desired toppings.
