Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and position an oven rack in the middle.
- Lightly grease a 9-inch cast iron skillet and place it in the oven to heat.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the buttermilk and eggs, mixing until combined.
- Add the melted butter to the batter and mix gently to combine without over-mixing.
- Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven and pour the batter into it.
- Return the skillet to the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cornbread to cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
