Easy Baked Tempeh with Maple Marinade

Ingredients

  • 1 block (8-ounce) tempeh
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce or gluten-free tamari
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1. Steam the cubed tempeh for about 10 minutes until tender.
  2. 2. While the tempeh is steaming, whisk together the marinade ingredients in a bowl.
  3. 3. Combine the steamed tempeh with the marinade and let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
  4. 4. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. 5. Spread the marinated tempeh on the baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, stirring halfway through.
