How to Cook Tempeh

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces tempeh
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1. Steam the tempeh in a steamer basket for 10 minutes.
  2. 2. In a large bowl, mix together the soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, olive oil, and black pepper.
  3. 3. Add the steamed tempeh to the marinade, toss to coat, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  4. 4. For baked tempeh, preheat the oven to 425°F, arrange the marinated tempeh on a baking sheet, and bake for 20 minutes until golden and crispy.
  5. 5. For sautéed tempeh, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, add the tempeh, and sauté for 2-3 minutes per side until crispy.
