Marinated Baked Tempeh

Ingredients

  • 1 package tempeh
  • ¼ cup tamari
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha
  • to taste freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Cut the tempeh into 1-inch cubes and steam for 10 minutes.
  2. Whisk together tamari, rice vinegar, maple syrup, olive oil, sriracha, and black pepper in a bowl.
  3. Place the steamed tempeh in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it, letting it soak for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. Arrange the marinated tempeh cubes on the baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
  6. Remove from the oven, brush with more marinade, and bake for an additional 10 minutes until charred.
