Instructions
- 1. Make the 8-spice blend by whisking together all the spices in a medium bowl.
- 2. Prepare the tempeh by steaming it for 10 minutes in a saucepan with simmering water.
- 3. While the tempeh is steaming, blend the marinade ingredients until emulsified.
- 4. Arrange the steamed tempeh in a dish and pour the marinade over it, ensuring maximum exposure.
- 5. Cover and marinate the tempeh for at least 1 hour (up to 8 hours in the fridge), flipping halfway through.
- 6. Preheat the grill to medium and clean the grates.
- 7. Grill the tempeh for about 5 minutes on each side until char marks appear.
- 8. Serve hot with your choice of accompaniments.
