Ingredients

The pasta

  • 8 ounces shell pasta

The meat and sauce

  • 6 slices bacon, diced
  • 1 pound ground beef (90% lean)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 16 ounces tomato sauce
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard

The toppings

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup diced pickles
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley

Seasoning

  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta in salted water according to package directions.
  2. In a large pan over medium-high heat, cook the bacon until browned and crispy, about 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the bacon from the pan and set aside, leaving about 2 teaspoons of fat in the pan.
  4. Add the ground beef to the pan, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula, about 4-5 minutes.
  5. Add the onion and cook for an additional 4 minutes until softened.
  6. Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, and mustard, coating the beef with the sauce.
  7. Drain the pasta and add it to the pan with the beef mixture.
  8. Add the cheddar cheese and stir until everything is combined and the cheese is melted.
  9. Top with reserved bacon, pickles, and parsley before serving.
