Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add onion, garlic, and red pepper flakes; cook until onions are tender.
- Crumble in the ground beef and Italian sausage; add ½ teaspoon of kosher salt and cook until meat is fully cooked.
- Break lasagna noodles into 1-2 inch pieces and spread over the meat.
- Add water, crushed tomatoes, and tomato sauce; bring to a boil.
- Cover, reduce heat to a simmer, and cook for 20 minutes until noodles are al dente.
- In a bowl, combine ricotta, ½ cup Parmesan, ½ cup mozzarella, ½ teaspoon kosher salt, and ¼ teaspoon black pepper.
- Dollop the ricotta mixture over the cooked pasta and meat, then sprinkle with remaining cheeses.
- Cover and let sit for 4-5 minutes until cheeses melt.
- Top with fresh basil and serve.
