One Pot Skillet Lasagna

Ingredients

The base

  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb 90 to 95% lean ground beef
  • 1 Tbsp minced fresh garlic
  • to taste salt and black pepper
  • 1 24 oz jar marinara sauce
  • 1 ¼ cups water
  • 3 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • 3 Tbsp chopped fresh basil
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes
  • 9 oz uncooked lasagna noodles

The cheeses

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • cup freshly grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Brown the ground beef, seasoning with salt and pepper, and add garlic once nearly cooked.
  3. Pour in marinara sauce and water, then add parsley, basil, and red pepper flakes, seasoning to taste.
  4. Bring the mixture to a light simmer, then add lasagna noodles and submerge them in the liquid.
  5. Cover and simmer until the pasta is nearly tender, stirring occasionally.
  6. Add half of the ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan, stirring to combine.
  7. Top with the remaining cheeses and cover, cooking until melted.
  8. Let rest off heat for about 5 minutes before serving.
