Ingredients

The base

  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 Small Onion, finely diced
  • 3 Cloves Garlic, mashed
  • 1 Pound Ground Beef
  • 1 Tablespoon Italian Seasoning
  • 2 Teaspoons Cumin
  • ½ Teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
  • 2 Teaspoons Sea Salt
  • ½ Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 24 Ounce Jar Marinara or Bolognese Sauce
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 7 Large Lasagna Noodles, broken into pieces

The cheeses

  • ¾ Cup Parmesan Cheese, grated
  • 1 Cup Cottage Cheese
  • ¾ Cup Mozzarella Cheese

For garnish

  • to taste Fresh Basil

Instructions

  1. 1. Heat a skillet on medium heat and add olive oil, onion, and garlic. Sauté for 3-4 minutes.
  2. 2. Add ground beef and cook for 5 minutes, breaking it up until it begins to brown.
  3. 3. Stir in Italian seasoning, cumin, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper, cooking for 2 more minutes.
  4. 4. Pour in the marinara sauce and water, mixing well.
  5. 5. Add broken lasagna noodles on top and stir to ensure they are covered with liquid.
  6. 6. Cover the pan and reduce heat to low-medium, cooking for 23-25 minutes until noodles are al dente.
  7. 7. In a bowl, mix together cottage cheese, parmesan cheese, and mozzarella cheese.
  8. 8. Turn off the heat, remove the cover, and mix in the cheese mixture. Sprinkle additional cheeses on top.
  9. 9. Broil for about 2 minutes until the cheese melts and turns golden brown.
  10. 10. Garnish with fresh basil and serve.
