Ingredients

The calamari

  • 1 pound calamari rings and tentacles
  • 1 cup buttermilk

The coating

  • cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder

For frying

  • vegetable oil for frying

For garnish

  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley
  • to taste teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Marinate the calamari in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a deep pot to 375 degrees F.
  3. Combine flour, salt, paprika, pepper, and garlic powder in a bowl.
  4. Dredge the calamari in the seasoned flour.
  5. Fry 8-10 pieces of squid for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Drain on paper towels and repeat with remaining squid.
  7. Sprinkle with additional salt and parsley before serving.
