Ingredients

The Meatballs

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ¼ cup Panko bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped
  • ¼ teaspoon ground allspice
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

The Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons thyme (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine all meatball ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Roll the mixture into 12 large or 16 small meatballs.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the meatballs until browned and cooked through.
  4. For the sauce, melt butter in the same skillet, then whisk in flour until smooth.
  5. Slowly add beef broth and heavy cream, cooking for about a minute.
  6. Stir in garlic, thyme, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard, then add sour cream and mix well.
  7. Bring the sauce to a boil, then simmer until it thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  8. Season with salt and pepper, then add the meatballs back to the skillet and simmer for another 1-2 minutes.
  9. Serve garnished with parsley over egg noodles, mashed potatoes, or rice.
