Ingredients

The base

  • 1 cup almonds (soaked in water for up to 12 hours)
  • 3 ½ cups water

The flavoring

  • 5 tablespoons cacao powder
  • 5 tablespoons maple syrup (or 8 pitted Medjool dates)

Instructions

  1. Soak the almonds in water for up to 12 hours, then drain and rinse them.
  2. In a high-speed blender, combine the soaked almonds, cacao powder, maple syrup, and fresh water.
  3. Blend the mixture until smooth and creamy, about 1 minute.
  4. Pour the mixture through a nut milk bag or fine mesh strainer to separate the liquid from the almond pulp.
  5. Store the chocolate almond milk in an airtight container in the fridge.
  6. Shake well before serving, as it may separate.
