Ingredients

The mushrooms

  • 1 lb cremini mushrooms

The filling

  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep garlic and bell pepper.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the Italian sausage, breaking it into small pieces.
  3. Add garlic and bell pepper to the skillet and cook until the sausage is browned and cooked through.
  4. Prepare the mushrooms by removing the stems and scraping out the ribs.
  5. Fill each mushroom cap with the sausage mixture and place them cap side down on a baking sheet.
  6. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  7. Bake the stuffed mushrooms for 7-10 minutes.
  8. Allow to cool for a couple of minutes before serving.
