Sesame Ginger Fish Cakes

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger
  • 1 shallot shallot
  • 4-6 cloves garlic
  • ½ cup cilantro
  • 2 limes limes
  • 16 oz firm white fish (halibut, cod, tilapia)
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp arrowroot flour
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • to taste salt

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop the ginger, shallot, and garlic.
  2. Zest one lime and add the ginger, shallot, garlic, cilantro, and lime zest to a food processor.
  3. Squeeze the juice of the zested lime into the processor and pulse until chopped.
  4. Chop the fish into cubes and add to the processor along with fish sauce, sesame seeds, paprika, and arrowroot flour.
  5. Pulse quickly to mix without over-processing.
  6. Form the mixture into medium-sized patties, squeezing out excess moisture if necessary.
  7. Heat sesame oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  8. Cook the patties for a few minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil, sprinkle with paprika, and serve with lime wedges.
