Ingredients

Pastry Dough

  • ¼ cup warm water
  • teaspoons Platinum Yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 14 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • cups all-purpose flour

Filling

Egg Wash

  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Vanilla Icing (Optional)

  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough by mixing warm water, yeast, and sugar; let it rest until foamy.
  2. Add remaining sugar, milk, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture.
  3. Cut cold butter into pieces and pulse with flour in a food processor until crumbly.
  4. Combine the flour mixture with the wet ingredients and fold until moistened.
  5. Wrap the dough tightly and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
  6. Roll and fold the dough several times, then refrigerate again.
  7. Cut the dough in half and shape into rounds, filling with desired filling.
  8. Brush with egg wash and chill shaped pastries before baking.
  9. Preheat the oven and bake until golden brown.
  10. Cool before icing with optional vanilla icing.
