Ingredients

The greens and meat

  • 2 pieces Meaty Smoked Ham Hocks or smoked turkey wings, legs, necks
  • 1 large Onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 lb Collard Greens, cleaned & chopped

The seasoning and broth

  • 1 teaspoon Seasoned Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes, optional
  • 5-6 cups Chicken Broth, low sodium
  • 1-2 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar

For serving

  • to taste Hot Sauce

Instructions

  1. Add the ham hocks, onion, garlic, collards, seasoned salt, red pepper flakes, and broth to a slow cooker.
  2. Cook on Low for 8-10 hours or High for 5-6 hours, stirring halfway and an hour before serving.
  3. Remove the ham hock and shred the meat, then return it to the slow cooker and stir.
  4. Add the apple cider vinegar and sugar, stir, and adjust seasoning as needed.
  5. Serve with hot sauce and cornbread or biscuits to enjoy the pot likker.
