Ingredients

The drink

  • 1 cup blackberries, fresh
  • 3 tablespoons coconut sugar
  • 2 large limes (juiced)
  • 5 leaves basil
  • 2 to 2½ cups cold water

For garnish

  • to taste basil leaves
  • to taste fresh blackberries

Instructions

  1. In a pot over high heat, combine blackberries, sugar, lime juice, basil leaves, and ½ cup of water.
  2. Smash the blackberries with a wooden spoon and stir to combine.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce to medium heat and cook for about 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool for about 5 minutes.
  5. Blend the mixture until smooth and strain it into a pitcher to remove seeds and solids.
  6. Add 1½ to 2 cups of cold water to the strained mixture and stir to combine.
  7. Serve immediately with fresh blackberries and basil leaves as garnish.
