Ingredients

The cider

  • 1 gallon unfiltered apple juice or apple cider
  • 1 large orange, cut into ¼” slices
  • 3 sticks cinnamon
  • 4 pieces star anise
  • 1 tablespoon whole cloves
  • 1 tablespoon whole allspice
  • 1 inch ginger root, sliced

The alcohol

  • cups spiced rum

Instructions

  1. Add apple juice, orange slices, cinnamon sticks, star anise, whole cloves, whole allspice, and ginger root to a large pot.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cover for 2-3 hours.
  3. Add the spiced rum to the mixture and simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
  4. Remove the fruit and spices from the pot and serve.
