Ingredients

The donuts

  • 1 and ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 and ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

The icing

  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 Tablespoon unsalted butter
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 and ½ cups sifted confectioners’ sugar
  • pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and prepare the donut pan.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl and whisk the wet ingredients in a medium bowl.
  3. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  4. Fill the donut pan with batter and bake for 10-11 minutes.
  5. Cool the donuts for 2 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack.
  6. For the icing, melt the brown sugar, milk, and butter in a saucepan, then add vanilla and confectioners’ sugar.
  7. Dip the tops of the cooled donuts into the icing and let set.
