Easy Pasta with Red Crab Sauce

Ingredients

The sauce

  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, fine mince
  • 1 oz dry wine (optional)
  • 2 cups spaghetti sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon fresh basil, chopped
  • ½ cup pasta cooking water (reserved)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh Italian parsley, chopped (optional garnish)

The pasta

  • lb linguine or spaghetti
  • 8 oz crab meat

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil, garlic, and red pepper flakes in a skillet over medium-high heat for about 1 minute.
  2. Lower the heat to medium and add crab meat, sautéing for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Optionally add a splash of wine to deglaze the pan after sautéing the crab.
  4. Add tomato sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and basil, bring to a boil, then reduce to low heat.
  5. Cook the sauce for 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat while cooking the pasta.
  6. Boil salted water and cook pasta al dente according to package instructions, reserving ½ cup of pasta water before draining.
  7. Reheat the crab sauce and add reserved pasta water if needed.
  8. Toss the pasta with some sauce, then top with remaining sauce and garnish with parsley if desired.
