Ingredients

The main ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • ¾ lb broccoli florets
  • 10 ounces linguine pasta
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • 2 teaspoons lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • cup finely grated parmesan cheese

Optional garnishes

  • lemon slices
  • chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. 1. Cook the pasta in salted water according to package instructions.
  2. 2. Add the broccoli to the pot during the last 4 minutes of cooking time.
  3. 3. Reserve ¼ cup of pasta cooking liquid.
  4. 4. Melt the butter in a pan over medium-high heat until browned.
  5. 5. Add the heavy cream, ½ teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon pepper, then bring to a simmer and cook until thickened.
  6. 6. Remove from heat and stir in the lemon zest and juice.
  7. 7. Place the pasta and broccoli back into the pot and pour the cream sauce over it, tossing to coat.
  8. 8. Stir in the parmesan cheese and arrange the chicken on top.
  9. 9. Adjust seasoning with more salt and pepper if needed.
  10. 10. Garnish with chopped parsley and lemon slices if desired, then serve immediately.
