Ginger Tea

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh ginger root (peeled and sliced)
  • 1 piece star anise
  • 3-4 pieces cracked cardamom
  • 3-4 pieces cinnamon sticks
  • 6-8 cups water
  • ½ cup lemon juice
  • 2 pieces large lemons (sliced, optional)

Instructions

  1. Add ginger, star anise, cardamom, and cinnamon sticks to a medium pot.
  2. Pour in water and place on the stove over medium-high heat.
  3. Once the water comes to a boil, reduce the heat to low and cook for about 5-10 minutes.
  4. Taste as it simmers and add more water if needed.
  5. Turn off the stove and remove the pot.
  6. Sieve the ginger tea using a fine sieve or cheesecloth into a bowl or mug.
  7. Add lemon juice to taste, starting with ¼ cup.
  8. Discard the remaining ingredients and top with lemon slices and sweetener if desired.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy.
