Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 inch chunk of fresh ginger
  • 1 cup water

Optional Flavorings

  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1 inch piece of fresh turmeric
  • several sprigs fresh mint

Optional Add-ins

  • 1 thin round fresh lemon or orange
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Slice the fresh ginger and combine it with water in a saucepan.
  2. Add any optional flavorings if desired and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  3. Maintain a gentle simmer for 5 to 10 minutes depending on desired strength.
  4. Remove from heat and strain the tea through a fine sieve.
  5. Serve hot, optionally with lemon or sweetener.
