Crockpot Bone Broth

Ingredients

  • 2 pieces carrots, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 3 lb beef or chicken bones
  • 1 handful fresh herbs (sage, rosemary, oregano, parsley, etc.)
  • 2 Tbsp whole peppercorns
  • 1 Tbsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • to fill as needed water

Instructions

  1. Place the bones in the crockpot, filling it about ½ to ¾ full.
  2. Chop the vegetables and add them along with herbs and peppercorns to the crockpot.
  3. Fill the crockpot with water, season with salt, and add apple cider vinegar.
  4. Cook on low for 18 to 48 hours, depending on the desired broth flavor intensity.
  5. Strain the broth through a strainer and let it cool.
  6. Remove the layer of fat from the top and discard it. Store the broth in a jar in the fridge for up to a week or freeze it for later use.
